History and mission
Taos Community Chorus was founded in 1978, incorporated in 1985 and received 501c(3) status in 1988. The joy of singing together, making beautiful music and bringing quality choral music concerts to area communities are what bring the singers together and are the basis for the group’s mission statement, creating community through song. TCC is governed by a board of directors, with each director also being a member of the chorus. Erick Brunner is TCC’s conductor and artistic director, and Martha Shepp is TCC’s accompanist. Read more.
Performances are held in local venues, often in churches with excellent acoustics. This helps us keep costs down and makes tickets affordable.
We are funded by the singers, ticket sales and private donations from our supporters. We also receive funding from New Mexico Arts (a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs) and the National Endowment for the Arts. We are proud to be the recipient of funding from these two organizations and greatly appreciate their confidence in and support of us. Read more in Support us.
TCC’s programs are full of music that is diverse, challenging and enjoyable to sing. Volunteer choristers come from many parts of Taos County and beyond, as well as from varied backgrounds. TCC provides a forum for meeting people, sharing a common interest, learning from and supporting each other and experiencing how music can be a universal language. See past programs.
